Robert Shearman began his career in the theatre. He was resident dramatist at the Northcott Theatre in Exeter and regular writer for Alan Ayckbourn at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough.

A regular writer for BBC Radio, his own interactive drama series The Chain Gang won two Sony Awards.

He is probably best known for his work on Doctor Who – he wrote six Big Finish audio adventures, all of which won best story in the Doctor Who Magazine Awards. He was invited by Russell T Davies to write for the BAFTA winning first series of the show’s revival in 2005, bringing back the Daleks for the 21st century in an episode nominated for a Hugo Award.

His latest book, We All Hear Stories in the Dark, was a finalist for the British and World Fantasy Awards.

This Myth Makers was filmed live in front of an audience at The Colour House Theatre in London in March 2022.
