Shane Rimmer was born in Toronto. After a successful career in Canada, he came to the UK in 1959 and appeared regularly on the stage and in some of the most famous TV and feature film series ever made!

His many TV appearances included Coronation Streer, Doctor Who, numerous Gerry Anderson productions (which he also wrote for), Lipstick on Your Collar and A Very British Coup.

He appeared in more than 70 films, including Dr. Strangelove, Star Wars, three James Bond 007 films, Superman 2 & 3, The people That Time Forgot, Warlords of Atlantis, Reds, The Holcroft Covenant, Gandhi, Out of Africa and Batman Begins.

His autobiography From Thunderbirds to Pterodactyls was published in 2010. Shane passed away peacefully on the 29th March 2019 at Barnet Hospital, North London, in the arms of his family.
