  Jake Simmonds in Doctor Who, 2006

Andrew Hayden-Smith began his career in Byker Grove, playing the part of “bad boy” Ben Carter. After presenting for CBBC, Andrew’s next big break came when he was cast as Jake Simmonds in David Tennant’s first season as The Doctor in Doctor Who, appearing in three stories The Age of Steel, Rise of the Cybermen and Doomsday (2006).

Jake proved to be an enduring and popular character and the role led to more acting work for Russell T. Davies in Cucumber, Banana and also the documentary Tofu (2015).

He has recently been cast in the soap Hollyoaks (2016).
