    Writer for Doctor Who, 1985-86

Philip Martin was born in Liverpool in 1938 and started his career as an actor, training at RADA in the early sixties. By the late 1960’s he was writing for series such as Z-Cars and in 1974 he wrote the highly regarded Gangsters for the BBC.

He has written extensively for television and radio, including several Play for Today contributions and episodes of Star Cops, Shoestring and Tandoori Nights. For Doctor Who he wrote Vengeance on Varos for the twenty second season and The Trial of a Time Lord parts 5 - 8 (Timewarp) for the twenty third. He was also scheduled to write a story called Mission to Magnus involving Sil and the Ice Warriors for the abandoned twenty-third season.

He continues to work in radio drama and on television and was the Senior Radio Drama Producer at BBC Pebble Mill at the end of the eighties. He has written Doctor Who audio dramas for Big Finish and is now completing both a new novelisation of Gangsters and a book about the making of the series.
