Title
The Grand Pier: A Trip Through Time (Episode 1)
The Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare was one of the last of the great Victorian pleasure piers to be built in the United Kingdom; it opened on the 11th June 1904.
This is the fascinating story of over 100 years of history – from the first pavilion, which housed a 2,000-seat theatre and burnt down in 1930, to the destruction of the second pavilion in another disastrous fire in 2008.
With first hand tales from visitors, staff and owners, plus rare music, photographs, film and recreations… this is a marvellous and entertaining documentary about a unique period in history!
